Short term cover, without the annual policy

OneClickInsure is not an insurance company and not a broker. We help people find temporary vehicle insurance, from an hour to 28 days, without touching their existing annual cover.

When short term cover makes more sense

Annual policies are built for people who drive the same vehicle all year. Plenty of situations do not look like that. Borrowing a car for a weekend, collecting a vehicle you have just bought, sharing the driving on a long trip, or covering a van for a single house move.

Adding a driver to an annual policy for a few days can be awkward and is not always possible. A separate short term policy sits alongside the existing cover rather than altering it, which is usually the simpler route and protects the main policyholder’s no claims bonus if something goes wrong.

  • Borrowing or lending a vehicle
  • Driving a newly bought car home
  • Sharing the driving on a long journey
  • Short term van and motorhome cover
  • Learner and young driver cover

Eamonn Turley

Eamonn Turley

Founder, OneClickInsure

I have spent years working in personal lines insurance, and short term cover is the corner of it that most people only discover when they need it in a hurry.

That is usually the worst moment to be reading policy documents. Someone has just bought a car and needs to drive it home, or a friend has offered to share the driving and nobody is sure whether that is allowed. I started OneClickInsure to make that a two minute job rather than an afternoon.

I also care a good deal about how websites work. Pages should load fast, be easy to move around, and tell you something useful rather than padding out the page. That is the standard I hold this one to.

If something here is slow, confusing or missing, I would rather hear about it than not.
